Everyone died and they come back, only to go on this flame chase journey again to die again. Since the prophecy stats that only one will witness the miracle, meaning every cycle everyone dies but Phainon. Phainon was probably happy at first that they get another chance to go on this journey but after multiple cycles, he realised everything is pointless, seeing his comrades die over and over again, made him fall into despair.

I'm pretty sure Flame Reaver just grew tired of all those sacrifices…

The cost that I am not willing to pay and so is everyone who love the Chrysos Heirs characters

On god Shaoji better prove it's a heartwarming story or I'll sue for emotional damages

Yeah but that is not considered as happy ending

The game is SO unserious until those moments in the quest where we all start bawling our eyes out

The heartwarming story they speak of is trailblazers Avenging thier fallen friends they made along the way

If the Flame Reaver is Phainon, and is the person who is causing all these deaths, living through cycles that repeat themselves. Then, in the 1st cycle, before everything started to reappear, who caused their deaths? Who was the original villain?
